5 Stars Good Read, Great Info
Another great book by Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen! There is a lot of useful information that you don’t even realize what we’re doing to our bodies by doing the things we do or by consuming what we eat. It give you tips and ideas on how to change your lifestyle to make you beautiful from the inside out and I can say that I’ve definitely have made adjustments to my lifestyle. I want to live a long beautiful life!

This book does have some good advice but on some of the things that is adviced on this book are kind of common sence. It tells you what ingredents are best for your face and gives a very small list of products that it recommends. i would have liked to see more product recommendation than ‘why this does that.’
1 Star Like the Authors, Hated the Book
I have several of the “You” books, which I think are helpful and generally well written. This one was an insult. The content was slim compared to the other books. It seemed like a rush job to capitalize on the franchise. That I could have overlooked, but the tone had me rushing to return this book, which is extremely rare for me.
It’s as though the target reader is a 10 year old who would find the references to boogers irresistible. For example, there is a diagram of a finger, with a pointer identifying matter under a fingernail as a booger.
Some humor is welcome, but know your audience. Assuming repeat “You” buyers are an obvious target audience, this book misses the mark.

This book has a lot of information on things you should do to stay healthy. I like that it really goes into the skin, you don’t really get that in most health books, and it has humor along with it which makes it a fun read.

3 Stars Average book with some helpful hints and tricks
This book is not “truly amazing” as another reviewer put it, neither is it that bad either. The hints and tricks in this book use mostly ingredients like coconut oil, avocado, and fruit and nut oils; basically, ingredients and methods that can easily be found on the internet as well. I would recommend this only to those who really want to have a book for reference, as I did.
The writing style of the book is a little prosaic at times, and perhaps a bit shallow (lots of exclamations marks!), but I understand that in general, the “beauty crowd” isn’t all that intellectual and some can’t spell well either (just take a look at some of the other reviews on here for this book). (I am not saying that Shalini Vadhera cannot write, but she probably had to dumb down her book for the target audience.)
All in all, this book is average, but not something I would say is stellar reading. As another reviewer noted, it would have been nice to include more beauty ideals from other countries.
An idea: This book could make a nice stocking stuffer for a teen or young woman.
1 Star Nothing I haven’t heard/read before
I am extremely disappointed. I was expecting new, fresh, exotic ideas of skin care from around the world. Having read it cover to cover, I don’t think I found one idea that I haven’t heard/read before. Further, Shalini (the author) mentions her skin care line throughout the book, therefore, I can only surmise that the intention is to further publicize her online products. I’d like my money back!
2 Stars Not bad, but not quite what I was hoping for
This book isn’t quite what I was hoping for. I’m interested in the beauty ideals of other cultures and was hoping Vadhera would go a little further into each culture’s perspective of beauty, such as by providing a few pages of narrative in each chapter in addition to the “beauty tips and techniques”. (For example, how does what the culture found beautiful in the past compare to what it finds beautiful now?) But that isn’t really what the book is about. It’s a lightweight, breezy collection of face and hair masks used by women in other countries.
I found some of the tips interesting, but other advice appears numerous times throughout the book, worded differently. Drinking a lot of water, eating a healthy diet, portion control, and exercise are mentioned constantly, which of course are good tips, but not really anything new. Vadhera has a perky style of writing, such as “African gals say walking is not only a way of life but also a great way to keep their lean physiques. Walking around town is an easy path to a tight butt and strong, toned legs!” and “Avoid trying to emphasize all your features at the same time. Overdoing it may label you a makeup misfit!”
I would recommend this book to someone who enjoys making her own skin and face masks and is looking for more receipes. I would also recommend it to someone who wants to learn more about the beauty practices of women in other cultures, as long as they aren’t looking for anything too deep.
Someone who is looking to learn more about French or Japanese beauty may enjoy “All You Need to Be Impossibly French” by Helena Frith-Powell or “Beauty Up: Exploring Contemporary Japanese Body Aesthetics” by Laura Miller.

As our body ages we gradually lose taste, smell and it is harder to prepare large meals and the result is that they lose weight and become thin. Being too thin may also increase a person’s risk for dying from certain diseases like cancer and heart failure. Many people associate this with being overweight, but the fact of the matter is that it works both ways. You have to meet in the middle where you are a good weight without being overweight. Elderly people who are underweight are also prone to becoming frail and suffering from osteoporosis or hip fractures. Men have an increase chance of erectile dysfunction. However, I was so pleased with this video that I wanted to write a review about it. I really liked the ideas that I got from this video. This is a great DVD. It taught me a lot about makeup application techniques and I have been wearing makeup for years! The teacher is easy to follow and the video shows each step very clearly. I was amazed at how much better my makeup looked after watching this video. I would definitely recommend it to my friends but make them purchase their own copy.
